Debussy in dialogue with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker

In Prélude à la mer, Thierry De Mey contrasts Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's choreography with the harsh reality of a catastrophe: the drying up of the Aral Sea. Rhythms travel from body to body, forming fascinating, polyphonic melodies of movement. In Blossoming II, Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa seeks the boundaries between Western and Eastern cultures 'to allow music to blossom inwardly from there'. Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra ranks among the absolute masterpieces of the 20th century. The title may seem contradictory, but is entirely right: Bartók gives each instrument group of the 100-piece orchestra its own solo moment in the spotlight.
