Brahms’ masterpieces
In next to no time ‘founding father’ Iván Fischer conducted his Budapest Festival Orchestra into the world top ten of orchestras. Although these Hungarian musicians are equally at home in all styles, it is mainly in the late-Romantic and early-Modern repertoire that they have won their spurs. Time and again this Budapest-based orchestra surprises and delights us with its stylistic sincerity. In the words of the magazine Knack: 'Few orchestras enjoy making music as much as the Budapest Festival Orchestra. And there is no conductor who combines seriousness and humour, knowledge and imagination, technique and freedom, tradition & innovation as expertly as Iván Fischer.'
