Feet, knees, hands, side, chest, heart and face: in Membra Jesu nostri, in seven cantatas, Dieterich Buxtehude contemplates seven parts of the suffering Christ’s body. This beautiful meditative Passion shows Buxtehude and the early Baroque at their most intimate and beautiful: raw sonority alongside heavenly joy. The performance of Ensemble Correspondances – synonymous with subtlety – with a leading role for the ever-wonderful mezzo-soprano Lucile Richardot, also promises to be heavenly.
The concert opens with an introduction by Ignace Bossuyt.
