Rosas Danst Rosas (1983) marked Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s definitive international break-through. This performance has become a benchmark in the history of postmodern dance. With Rosas Danst Rosas, 22-year-old Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker founded the dance company Rosas almost 35 years ago. Ever since she has developed an oeuvre of more than 50 creations with Rosas. The success of this first creation and the buzz in the international press put the company and De Keersmaeker resolutely on the world map. Since its premiere, the performance has been repeated several times and has been performed no less than 351 times in theatres all over the world. The four original dancers, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker herself, Adriana Borriello, Michèle Anne De Mey and Fumiyo Ikeda, were the first members of the dance company. In 2017, an entirely new cast of young dancers was taught the performance. Photographer Anne Van Aerschot documented the 2017 rehearsal process.
