Humans and animals face each other in court. The animals no longer want to be food or beasts of burden. They are fed up of seeing their habitats get smaller and smaller. Drawing from the legacy of the esoteric mediaeval Islamic philosophers the Brethren of Purity, Rachida Lamrabet wrote a provocative text that zooms in on our relationship. Turkish-Syrian-Belgian ensemble Jiraan – the Arabic word for ‘neighbours’ – and Season’s Composer Wim Henderickx provide the soundtrack.
