Hearing Spem in alium is an overwhelming experience: forty voices circling between heaven and earth. Singing Spem in alium is even more impressive, especially when those forty singers become two. With a little electronic assistance, Terry Wey and Ulfried Staber are going to rebuild Thomas Tallis's 1570 masterpiece note by note, voice by voice: an almost eight-hour meditative experience. Time dissolves into sound, the musical fabric becomes almost visible.
