Some 200,000 years ago, humans played their very first music. Someone, somewhere knocked stones together and listened to the rhythm of their heart as they gazed at the sky. In The Well-Tempered Circle, Stefaan Quix casts these primitive, first beats into a concert. Eight percussionists surround the audience and use an abundance of stone, wood and metal percussion instruments to create a soundscape reminiscent of a host of crickets on a hot summer’s day in the south. Take a seat in the middle of this sound, close your eyes and let yourself be transported a spatial sound universe.
