Director/choreographer Alain Platel and composer Fabrizio Cassol - known from avant-garde jazz band Aka Moon – cast their collective eye on Mozart. Together with fourteen African and European musicians, Cassol reconstructs Mozart's Requiem, adding elements from jazz, opera and popular African music. Platel translates the images a requiem traditionally evokes - ranging from a Mass for the Dead to a mass grave to a ritual farewell – into a powerful and poignant performance.
