Aline Héau is a French photographer, whose work invariably reflects her strong preference for a refined and graphic aesthetic. Characteristically, she always places the photographed subject centrally and with no reference to space or time. Aline Héau creates her photos using cyanotype, an early photographic process, and she commits the images to glass, a traditional photographic medium. When printed, her unassuming subjects leave an imprint in Prussian blue that fully reveals the beauty of their form. Each step of the process, from the collection of specimens, to the photosensitising of the glass, to the print through which the light passes, contributes to the creation of this subtle portrait of nature.
