Bruges’s Joseph Ryelandt fared much the same as many other born musicians. First he had to study something serious: in his case, law. Eventually, however, music prevailed. A stream of inspired late-Romantic music ensued that is well worth rediscovering! His chamber music brims with melodic twists, just like that of his great example Brahms.
