Diptych situated somewhere between dance, music and performance art: entertaining and thought provoking

The work of choreographer Jonathan Burrows and composer Matteo Fargion is situated somewhere between dance, music and performance. It is not only great to watch; it is also thought provoking. Over the past twelve years, these two artists have created a successful series of duets, which mix the formality of classical music with an open and often anarchic approach to performance. The Cow Piece is an unbridled celebration of logic. Two tables serve as a backdrop to twelve plastic cows that dance, sing, talk, think, sleep and die. This performance enchanted and bemused the press and audiences at home and abroad. Body Not Fit For Purpose is Burrows and Fargion’s first overtly political work. Its underlying principle is the impossibility of expressing anything of any real importance through dance. It was commissioned by the Venice Biennale 2014.
