Choir and orchestra express youthful impatience in a tragic myth

Orpheus and Euridice are newly married when Euridice is bitten by a snake and dies. The grief-stricken Orpheus immediately descends into the Underworld to rescue her. When they flee, he is warned not to look back. But he can’t resist a quick glance to check that she is following him and so he loses her again. Fortunately, La Fonte Musica are on an ever-upward path, which is taking them to the world’s major stages, with a repertoire from the Middle Ages to the Baroque. Thanks to their characteristic theatricality and italianità, Monteverdi's music fits them like a glove.
