In their expanded sextet form, Aka Moon follow on from their earlier explorations of Bach and Monteverdi and delve into Beethoven's musical legacy. With vocalist Fredy Massamba as the on-stage epicentre, colourful spectra unfold between Aka Moon’s forceful avant-garde jazz and the musical ideas of the archetypal European composer. In their acclaimed new album, Aka Moon take on Beethoven's mythical Piano Sonata, opus 111. A piece saxophonist Fabrizio Cassol says contains all the elements of the earliest jazz.
