A Baroque ballroom inspires different movements than a post-industrial nightclub. In An Evening-length Performance, James Batchelor and his dancers zoom in on the interplay of architecture, social experience and time-specific movement conventions. Not coincidentally, they do this in the stately foyer of the Koninklijke Stadsschouwburg – the Royal Theatre – a place with a history of exceptional encounters.
