Concertgebouw resident artist Anima Eterna Brugge is second to none in its mastery of the Classical repertoire. The warm sound of period instruments ensures a gripping performance with heightened contrast: music such as Joseph Haydn himself might have heard it. In this concert, Haydn is very much in the spotlight. Pianist Lucas Blondeel sparkles in Haydn's much loved Concerto in D major and the orchestra dazzle us with Haydn’s Surprise Symphony, as his 103rd became popularly known soon after its premiere.
