For once the wind section of Anima Eterna Brugge are staying at home. All we will hear tonight is the warm sound of the strings performing works that will undoubtedly benefit from Anima Eterna’s historically informed and refreshing approach. There will be timeless tunes in plenty: Tchaikovsky's broadly scored and heartfelt Serenade for Strings; Britten's Simple Symphony, in which he incorporated excerpts from his early works; and as the pièce de résistance Vaughan Williams' masterfully constructed Fantasia as a grateful bow to Thomas Tallis.
