From goose-bump-giving love song to symphonic ecstasy

1874: after twenty years of fretting, Johannes Brahms finally completes his First Symphony. Some call the result as 'Schubertian', but it is Brahms to the bone: innovative, groundbreaking, unpredictable and rebellious. Mahler's Lieder eines fahrender Gesellen – ‘Songs of a Wayfarer' – take us straight to the heart of his musical and emotional universe. Wolf excels in the intimate, chamber music Lied. Featuring soloist Thomas Bauer, Anima present an evening that is one great crescendo.
