Bell Play (2020)

From 1696 to 2010 these bronze carillon bells hung in the Bruges Belfry. They were then replaced by historically authentic bells and donated to the Concertgebouw.
In 2020 artist duo DE JENZ created Bellen Spel (Bell Play), an installation designed to exhibit the bells in a sculptural but user-friendly way. They mounted the bells in two overlapping semi-circular, perforated wooden walls. Each bell has its own unique pitch, and together they form almost two complete scales. Release your inner carillonneur and let the sound of these bells ring out over Bruges!
