Iván Fischer and his Budapest Festival Orchestra are well known to Bruges audiences. Over the past years, their name has been a guarantee for extremely dedicated and exciting interpretations of the great orchestral repertoire. This visit they are focussing on the music of Mahler, a composer with whom Fischer has a special bond, as evidenced by his multi-award-winning recordings of several Mahler symphonies. For us Fischer and his orchestra will be performing Mahler's colossal Second Symphony and his extremely emotional Fifth.
