Fischer as multifaceted storyteller

Nothing is what it seems. Bach's Fourth Overture is not an overture but a suite. Brahms's Third Symphony is reminiscent of Schumann and of the Rhine. Ligeti’s Mysteries of the Macabre is based on a play by the French-speaking Fleming Michel De Ghelderode. An evening of intrigues and plot twists? Iván Fischer knows how to handle that. With his magical baton he transforms all of these enigmas into a powerful story with a happy ending.
