‘Welcome to the little theatre between my ears,’ reads the website of London composer Bushra El-Turk, whose music is rich in theatrical gestures, rituals and intriguing colour combinations. In her transcultural projects, western and eastern music traditions merge seamlessly and the boundaries between traditional performance techniques, improvisation and contemporary sounds become non-existent. Bushra El-Turk is the central guest of All Arias. She also composed Vane, the seventh and latest work in the Concertgebouw’s Angel Series.
