The audiovisual art of Japanese phenomenon Ryoji Ikeda is as minimalistic as it is breathtaking. Time after time he toys with the limits of the human senses. He does so by transforming mathematical concepts, computer data, sound and light into precision works of impalpable power and beauty. In music for percussion – written for body percussion, triangles, cymbals, crotales, metronomes and even pencil and paper – he sometimes pares everything back to the essence, only to bombard us once again with data.
