The mysterious underwater world of mermaids and mermen
'Mermaids and mermen should be treated with respect,' says Ghent photographer Elisa Maenhout. She travelled the seven seas to photograph merfolk – waterfolk – in their natural habitat. To do so she had to immerse herself in the mysteries of diving and underwater photography. One of her mermaids has already graced a billboard on New York's 7th Avenue. Zemlinsky's Seejungfrau now brings Maenhout and her mysterious images to Bruges.
