Just like a dancer who engages with his surroundings, Belgian artist Lore Stessel enters into dialogue with the dance(r). ‘Dance is a language’, she says. A language without words that gives birth to stories. In her own wordless vocabulary, camera in hand, Stessel captures the dance. In Concrete Body, this translates into the intertwining of her work with the architecture of the Concertgebouw and in the materials she chooses on which each image finds its home. The fragility of the dance versus the concrete walls. The translucent fabrics versus the harshness of distant landscapes. Stessel suggests, but does not fill in. She leaves the viewer free to find his own story.
