Julian & Jonathan is Dutch photographer Sarah Mei Herman’s most extensive body of work. In a series that spans more than twenty years, she portrays the relationship between her father and her half-brother, who is 21 years her junior. Her own childhood memories of her father have to some extent echoed in Jonathan's experiences. She is fascinated by their three-sided relationship, by their shared and evolving closeness and distance, and by the strange feeling of looking in on a world to which she no longer fully belongs.
