Lara Barsacq has once again turned to the Ballets Russes of the early 20th century for her inspiration. Her ballet Fruit Tree brings us the wedding of a young peasant couple, in particular the bride’s preparations. It is conceived as a ceremony that consists of dance, song and stories, in a paradoxical harmony that is both joyful and melancholic. Fruit Tree is an ode to the power of life.
