When it comes to setting poetry to music, Benjamin Britten is unrivalled. For the masterly character sketches in his Six Metamorphoses after Ovid, he drew his inspiration from Ovid's renowned Metamorphoses. He set six mythical characters to music that used the oboe to its full potential. Balder Dendievel and I SOLISTI interweave these pieces with short text excerpts from Ovid's masterpiece and with new works by six young composers. The music and text are graphically supported by the live drawings of sand artist Immanuel Boie.
