If you are looking for a sparkling evening, Giovanni Antonini and Isabelle Faust are the dream team. And with Pietro Locatelli – the rather idiosyncratic father of the modern violin concerto – we are certainly knocking at the right (Amsterdam) door for musical sparks. Just like Vivaldi, Locatelli pushed the violin to its absolute limits in his almost crazily virtuoso concertos and incorporated stories such as Ariadne on Naxos. In a season in which Antonini is performing live with our resident orchestra Anima Eterna for the first time, his own Giardino Armonico ensemble naturally also had to be on the bill.
For this project the orchestra received support from Fondazione Polli Stoppani.
Concertos by Pietro Locatelli (1695-1764) & Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741)
Il Giardino Armonico: ensemble
Giovanni Antonini: artistic direction
Isabelle Faust: violin
