Ambition, passion and talent drove the young Händel from Northern Germany to Rome, where a boundless love of music was matched by equally boundless budgets. Within a few years Händel had outstripped his brilliant contemporaries Corelli, Caldara and the Scarlatti's to become the brightest star of the cultural firmament with the oratorio La resurrezione. The virtuoso fireworks and endless nuances of the dramatic score are done full justice by La Risonanza’s performance.
