Polifemo is the dramatic and exciting story of Polyphemus, the cyclops who waylays Odysseus on his long journey home from the Trojan War. The opera reveals the small, human aspects of Greek mythology. In this tragic work, Nicola Porpora pushed the rigid boundaries of opera. Together with librettist Paolo Rolli, he created a magical performance, a magic that Le Concert d'Astrée and director Bruno Ravella continued to generate centuries later.
