Maker Catalina Vicens

In the 24-25 season 'two' becomes Catalina Vicens' (1983) lucky number. In her second season as Maker, she is displaying her artistic duality in a duo of projects that are inextricably linked. During Deep Listening Day, using two historical instruments, she introduces us to the age-old 'cantus firmus' composing technique. 'Early' material is thus given a second (third, fourth, etc.) life in new compositions. During SLOW(36h), she applies this technique herself, using digital manipulation of the sound of early keyboards to construct new music. The existing thus becomes a fresh creation. Catalina the curator of Bologna’s unique Tagliavini instrument collection and Catalina the researcher-creator will both undoubtedly be delighted.
