In recent years dancer-choreographer Lisa Vereertbrugghen (1986) has developed a highly individual choreographic signature. With her focus on hardcore dance beats in her performances Softcore and DISQUIET, she not only presents innovative dance, but also reveals how she herself lives and breathes dance. She says her intense movement language is what makes her feel human.
Besides stage work, Lisas Vereertbrugghen’s artistic practice sometimes also takes other forms. She works on technomeditations, for instance, a research into the interface between mindfulness and technodance. As the next step in her artistic career, Lisa Vereertbrugghen will be working with a group of women in her typical and intense dance style and with her usual focus on sound. She will also be investigating the effect her dance practice has on her body. Vereertbrugghen's surprisingly fresh and artistically promising work is very much at home in the Concertgebouw, where the relationship between movement and music is always given particular attention. Lisa Vereertbrugghen's productions will be performed in Bruges as part of Bits of Dance and December Dance 23.
