A handful of bars with pizzicato tones, reminiscent of a plucked harp, were enough for Beethoven's publisher to dub his tenth quartet the Harp Quartet. The work’s heroic tone, sudden mood changes and the dark intensity of its Adagio have a great affinity with the famous Fifth Symphony.
