Saint-Aimé blazes new trails at the forefront of jazz

Sélène Saint-Aimé, a Frenchwoman with Caribbean and African roots, is a double bass player, singer, composer and poet. In the suburbs of Paris, she took a life-changing masterclass with Steve Coleman, which led to residencies and workshops in New York, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles and Cuba. In 2022 Saint-Aimé released the powerful and evocative album Potomitan, with which she forged an extremely convincing new course for jazz. Fans of similar projects, such as Dee Bridgewater’s Red Earth and Steve Coleman’s The Sign and The Seal are in for a treat.
