Part of Dagpas Deep Listening 2
Marimba player Adilia Yip seeks new perspectives on her own instrument, which was only born in 1910, in her research into the West African balafon tradition. To do so, she spoke with players on the spot and made recordings, which shed a unique light on the polyrhythmic world of this percussion, in which body language and movement play a decisive role. During her lecture, she will introduce you and show how her research has influenced her view of the marimba.
Due to programming reasons, we are forced to adjust the schedule of this Deep Listening Day. The originally scheduled lecture by Talike Gellé will be replaced by a lecture by marimba player Adilia Yip. The lecture will also be moved to 11 am and will take place at Forum 6. Previously purchased tickets for Talike Gellé's lecture will remain valid.
