With such Biblical reflections, the Negro slaves of North America kept up their spirits and kept alive their hopes while they toiled and sweated on the plantations. Negro spirituals are songs of hope and solidarity, but also often of poignant sadness and resignation. The Flemish Radio Choir breathes new life into these tragically beautiful gems.
