During the reign of Elizabeth I, a lavish, imaginative and frivolous repertoire of fantasias, fancies, variations, and dances, such as pavanes and gaillardes was built up in England. The works of keyboard masters Holborne, Fairhill, Dowland and Byrd complete this trip into England’s Elizabethan golden age.
