Akhtamar take their name from an Armenian legend. It is therefore no coincidence that the leitmotiv in their concerts is the music of Armenian priest-composer Komitas. Just like Eugénie Alecian, Komitas wove Armenian folk music into his miniatures. These two are set against an iconic string quartet by the great master Beethoven.
