Stéphane Denève lets his orchestra dance in Prokofiev’s enchanting score

Brussels Philharmonic shine in classics by Beethoven and Prokofiev, but also in the fiery contemporary work of Connesson. In Flammenschrift this French composer paints a psychological portrait of Beethoven’s stormy inner nature. Less turbulent is the hearing-impaired Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. With Nikolaj Znaider – winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition 1997 – the imposing depth and breadth of the score is in the best of hands.
