Surprising encounters between old and new(er)

Bach specialist Dorothee Mields surprises us with a unique combination of old and not-so-old as she contrasts the joys of Bach with the gloominess of Shostakovich's latter years. The youthful ardour of Shostakovich's First Piano Trio bridges the gap between the two.
