El cantar del playo or... a song is a rose is a thorn is conceived as a songbook in which choreography and poetry come together. It is a collection of songs, scenes and memories drawn from Espinoza's experiences in Costa Rica's gay scene in the early 2010s. Through poetic storytelling and melodrama, he brings the stories of that region and time back to life from the perspective of a Central American migrant in Europe, who wishes to start a dialogue.
