A top European orchestra in a Baroque masterpiece? That is a definite yes! In 1721 – as a young composer looking for a better appointment - Bach played a trump card: his six concerti grossi. His hope of working for the Elector of Brandenburg was ultimately dashed, but never has an application letter become so famous.
