All roads lead to... Venice, the north Italian city in which every visitor leaves a piece of his or her heart. Gerrit Valckenaers and Eric Min wrote a cultural history of Venice, full of stories about its composers, painters and writers, geniuses who continue to stimulate our imagination: from Monteverdi to Proust, from Stravinsky to Brodsky. This lecture focuses on the music, its composers and sites of particular musical interest, with special attention to the city’s enigmatic acoustics.
