Bruges voices from the Renaissance
GOLD interlinks the best of Bruges's Golden Age: the city’s fascinating history, its heritage architecture, its art treasures and above all its music, which for centuries literally set the tone throughout Europe. This third edition of the festival tells the story of an exceptional citizen of Bruges: Anselm Adornes, who was born 600 years ago. His family – merchants, originally from Genoa – built the striking Jerusalem Chapel and played a major political and cultural role in the city. Anselm himself was a diplomat, humanist and an inquisitive world traveller: from Scotland to Tunisia and from Jerusalem to Cracow. A portrait of a colourful life, full of music.
