On 19 February, 1470, Anselm Adornes embarked on the journey of a lifetime. Together with his son, who was studying law in Pavia, he visited Holy Places in and around Jerusalem and the world’s oldest continuously inhabited monastery: St Catherine’s monastery at the foot of Mount Sinai. But he also visited Tunis, Cairo, Damascus and Beirut, where pilgrims rarely ventured. Basing himself on Jean Adornes' wonderful account, Filip Jordens tells the story of a world trip, accompanied by fitting music from Imago Mundi.
