James Brandon Lewis (US) wrings a deep, raw, jubilant tone from his instrument that leaves jazz enthusiasts and critics gasping for breath. Jazz, blues and gospel are equal components in his characteristic sound. In 2020 James Brandon Lewis – the revelation of Jazz Brugge 2018 – was named 'Rising Star Tenor Saxophonist' by the authoritative 'International Critics poll' of trade magazine Downbeat. This year he released a powerful album Eye of I. During Jazz Brugge, he will introduce it to the audience.
