A meeting of the sacred and profane, around Allegri’s Miserere

An amorous madrigal in church? No problem, because with a modest text that heavenly Renaissance harmony sounded just as good in honour of a saint. But then the Baroque turned the world upside down: even sanitised poetry could barely conceal Baroque music’s fierce human emotions and sensual twists. Finally back in Bruges, Le Poème Harmonique present a continuation of their Nova Metamorfosi programme: a dream of eroticism, passion and ecstasy, with amongst others Claire Lefilliâtre and Jan Van Elsacker.
