Thanks to his Traité de l’harmonie (Treatise on Harmony), Jean-Philippe Rameau initially became known as a music theorist. Parisian audiences were therefore surprised when this academic also turned out to be a first-rate composer of wonderful works such as the operas Hippolyte et Aricie, Les Indes galantes and Castor et Pollux. Under the direction of Bertrand Cuiller, this first edition of the MA Academy dips into Rameau’s oeuvre.
