Multitalent Esinam presents new work
MetX and Concertgebouw Brugge give ESINAM carte blanche for a brand new creation on the theme of birth. Besides a start or new chapter in life, birth for ESINAM is also about transformation: an important transition point between past and future. Inspired by her West African roots, she sets to work with poetry, dance and music and forms an all-female line-up around her: Louise van den Heuvel (bass, vocals), Tutu Puoane (vocals), Wassa Kouyaté (kora, vocals) & Sarah Van Impe (percussion, vocals).
Before this concert, we celebrate with dance and music on 't Zand. Around 15.15, three brass bands, a concert band and a percussion group will gather for Toope Ajoyo, a joyous celebration of the musical traditions of West Africa. From 13h40 onwards, you can also walk along with the music groups through the Bruges city centre towards 't Zand.
