Hearing Spem in alium is an overwhelming experience: forty voices interweaving, circling, moving between heaven and earth. With a little electronic help, singers Terry Wey and Ulfried Staber rebuild Tallis's 1570 masterpiece note by note, voice by voice, in a meditative experience that lasts for almost eight hours.
